The Kelpies

The Kelpies- rising a colossal 30 metres above the Forth and Clyde Canal, The Kelpies are a monument to horse powered heritage across Central Scotland. You can book a Kelpies tour if you want to go inside the sculptures, or just admire them while walking round the Lagoon in Helix Park.

 

The Falkirk Wheel

Falkirk Wheel- the World's only rotating boat lift –lifts boats 115 ft which links the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. The Wheel is great for a family day out with a Childrens Activity Zone, Mini Canal & Water Play Park, Water Activity Zone, Cycle Hire, Water Zorbing, Canoeing, Boat trips and Woodland Walks which take in parts of the Antonine Wall (a World Heritage Site) and Roughcastle Roman Fort.

 

Heritage

Callendar House- a 5 star visitor attraction,is a stunning 14th century, French chateau styled house, complete with working Georgian kitchen, visitor tea room and fantastic kids play park.

Blackness Castle- Shaped like a ship and situated on a promontory which juts out into the Firth of Forth, this 15th century castle is known as 'the ship that never sailed'. The Lobster Pot nearby serves good pub grub.

Boness Steam Railway-Enjoy a 10 mile scenic return steam train journey along the Forth Estuary. Visit the Museum of Scottish Railways and look out for special events, including visits by Thomas the Tank engine.

Family fun

  • The Helix - Helix Park, home of the Kelpies, includes a large lagoon for water sports, a great lawn for events and activities, a splash play area, an extensive network of family friendly cycling and walking paths, a Visitor Centre, the plaza café and the amazing Adventure Zone play park.
  • The Milk Barn - Falkirk’s artisan ice cream parlor with kids play area, cycle racks and a fibreglass cow to let kids practice their milking skills! Our family love the jumping pillows and quirky ice cream flavours.
  • Jupiter Wildlife Centre - An urban nature oasis right in the middle of industrial Grangemouth, Jupiter is a large wildlife garden, a haven for birds, butterflies and wildflowers. A fantastic place to explore and relax – enjoy a picnic, walk or even use the BBQ.
  • Divergent Games Escape Rooms - one of two local companies providing exciting and challenging live game experiences. Solve clues, work as a team and use your problem solving skills!
  • Muiravonside Country Park- 170 acre park, just 2 miles from Grangemouth. It is open all year and includes walking trails, picnic sites, play areas and Newparks Farm. A few more miles away is Beecraigs Country Park near Linlithgow. It has free, year round admission to a huge adventure playground, and its own herds of red deer and highland cattle.
